A photograph album with a brown leather cover entitled "A Surprise Party Given To/Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Curtiss James/Beacon Hill House, Newport, R.I./September 7, 1917". Cover is lined with marbelized paper. Includes ten black and white photographs of U.S. Navy officers and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Curtiss James on the grounds of Beacon Hill House. A few additional images were affixed to the album's endpapers; these include a photograph of "Aloha" (Mr. James's yacht), a print of the James family's coat of arms, a print of the Blue Garden (at Beacon Hill House), and a photographic portrait of Mrs. James.
