Description
AN AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY FOUR-POSTER DOUBLE BED (Newport, circa 1780). The arched scroll headboard is flanked by two square tapering headposts, each with chamfered corners, and two circular tapering footposts accented with reeding. The posts support a canopy of modern cotton fabric decorated with a red meander vine on a white ground, the four square legs are fluted on two sides and supported on Marlboro feet.
