Description
AN AMERICAN QUEEN ANNE MAHOGANY LOWBOY OR DRESSING TABLE BY BENJAMIN BAKER (Newport, 1750-1760). The piece has a rectangular top with a molded edge over a scalloped case containing one long drawer above two small drawers flanking a decorative concave shell carving bearing eleven lobes. The drawers have their original brass handles and mounts. The small drawer on the left bearing a later and slightly larger brass handle and mount. The whole is raised on four cabriole legs terminating in pad feet.
