Description
AN AMERICAN QUEEN ANNE MAHOGANY WING CHAIR (Newport, circa 1750). The arched crest rail and wings are of a serpentine form and above outswept scrolling arms. The straight seat rail has loose cushion and is raised on four legs. The cabriole front legs terminate in pad feet, the square back legs are splayed at the bottom. The chair has an H-shape spindle and block turned stretchers, a single ring turned rear stretcher; and is covered in a white cotton slipcover decorated with a red meandering vine. a = Chair b = Cushion
