AN OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING DEPICTING THE ROAD COACH "VIKING" AT CLAREMONT BY MAX-FRANCIS KLEPPER (German, dated 1906). The painting depicts the "Viking", a four-in-hand, driven by Alfred Gywnne Vanderbilt (1877-1915), and several other road coaches driving to the inn rendezvous, "Claremont," a large white rectangular structure with a red hipped roof and cupola over which waves a red and blue flag reading: "Claremont". A river and sailboats can be seen in the background.
