Description
Three earthenware dinner plates (French, 1879) with floral decoration from the "Fleurs et Rubans" service designed by Felix Bracquemond (1833 - 1914) and manufactured by Creil & Montereau in 1879. All three plates have scalloped edges and white grounds, and they are signed on the front with "B.," one of Bracquemond's known signatures. Each plate has a unique painted design in an Art Nouveau style.
.1 - Center spray of honeysuckle blooms and leaves, intertwined with pale blue ribbon. The back of the plate includes the manufacturer's stamp, "Creil & Montereau et Haviland," and is impressed with the Creil & Montereau seal and the number 1.
.2 - Off center vine of pink and yellow morning-glories, intertwined with pale blue ribbon. The back of the plate includes the manufacturer's stamp, impressed marks of "TERRE de FER" and the number 1, and a painted letter "P."
.3 - Poppy stem intertwined with pale blue ribbon. The back of the plate includes the manufacturer's stamp, impressed marks of "TERRE de FER" and the number 1, and a painted letter "P."
