Description
AN AESTHETIC MOVEMENT SIDE TABLE (American, c. 1880). Of rectangular form, the front includes a fitted drawer, neatly delineated with incised borders. The lower platform shelf is surrounded on three sides by a pierced Japonesque screen featuring stylized pierced chrysanthemum panels. The piece rests on four splayed incised brass feet. Inspired by E.W. Godwin's 1870s Anglo-Japanesque furniture.
