AN OIL ON CANVAS BUST-LENGTH PORTRAIT OF THEODORE WHEATON KING by William Morris Hunt (American, 1824-1879). Commissioned after the subject's death in the Civil War; dated 1865. The sitter is a young man in Union Army uniform, three quarter view, full front against heavily clouded background. Executed posthumously by Hunt for the family after a photograph of Wheaton King by Critcherson & Storer, Photographers, Bellevue Ave. Newport, RI.
