A PAIR OF EBONY AND IVORY INLAID HALL CHAIRS RETAILED BY SYPHER OF NEW YORK (Italian, 19th century). The tall backs have turned supports and shaped centre splats inlaid with ivory figures (Flemish inspired ) within niches. The wood seats are inlaid with ivory stringing forming geometric patterns and the carved and turned legs are joined by shaped stretchers. Late 19th century.
