Description
A NORDIC STYLE WHITE OAK CENTER TABLE (English, circa 1883) custom-designed by William Morris & Company for Miss Catherine Lorillard Wolfe's Newport summer villa "Vinland" (Peabody & Stearns, architects). The sectional oak top is bordered by an ornately carved frieze based in old Runic and Nordic designs after William Morris. The large bulbous legs are decorated with similar vegetal Nordic motifs and lead to an L-shaped stretcher.
