Description
A PAIR OF CARVED WALNUT PUTTI BY LUIGI FRULLINI (Italian, circa 1880). Each putto stands on a square grape cluster bedecked stand carved in high relief, with one leg raised, leaning slightly forward with right hand held over head. Each figure clutches a grape cluster in its left hand and wears a lambrequin loin cloth with traces of parcel gilt and bearing the script signature "Luigi Frullini, Firenze". They were originally designed to serve as torcheres in a dining room setting, as evidenced by the grape motifs.
