A VENETIAN STATE BED WITH SILK DRAPERIES AND COVER (Italian, 18th century), the shaped headboard is covered with an embroidered silk covering of floral and foliate designs with pale blue highlights, this is repeated on the large silk side panel drapes and baldaquin canopy. The bed was originally owned by Mrs. Virginia Fair Vanderbilt (America, 1875- 1935), the wife of William K. Vanderbilt.
