Description
A George I open upholstered walnut armchair (English, c. 1725). It has a rounded, padded back, partially covered arms, and a seat covered in period gros point and petit point needlework. The out-scrolled arms end on a balloon slip seat. The wooden apron sits above the two front legs of cabriole form with foliate side brackets, each terminating in a well-carved ball and claw. The two rear legs have a stump form and terminate in pad feet.
