Description
A Francois I style carved walnut library table (French, c. 1900) from the workshops of Jules Allard & Sons of Paris. The inlaid rectangular top sits above a leaf-carved frieze containing two drawers on the long sides and is raised on trestle-type male and female figural supports that terminate in scroll-shaped feet. The supports connect to a full length medial stretcher/footer composed of C-scrolls centering on a lion's mask on an egg and dart carved base. The sides have Doric pilasters flanking archways with pendant drops.
