Description
VIEW OF THE CAPRI COAST (American, c. 1850), an oil on canvas coastal scene by John Frederick Kensett (American, 1816-1872). Taking place at either sunrise or sunset, the scene depicts an avenue of trees with figures in the left middle ground, a ravine runs to the beach and a prominent ruined fortress stands along the cliffs leading to the coast, the sea with boats on it is on the right side of the canvas, and the rising/setting sun is reflected on the water.
