Description
A SET OF EIGHT MASSIVE BRONZE STANDARD LAMPS OR TORCHERES (French, circa 1895) attributed to Vian, Paris and retailed by Archer and Pancoast of New York after a model designed by P. Caron and Delaherche. Each torchere has a triangular base resting on claw feet chiseled with grotesques, scrolls and foliage. The triangular plinth is decorated with nautical motifs including dolphins with raised tails supporting a putto bearing on his head a globe below a circular platform surmounted by a central lamp with a frosted glass shade and surrounded by four scrolled foliate arms terminating with frosted glass shades.
