AN OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING ENTITLED "RIVER FOWL" BY MELCHIOR D' HONDECOETER (1636-1695) DEPICTING A RIVER SCENE WITH FOWL (Dutch (Netherlands), 17th century). The river scene features fowl attacking a hawk at center surrounded by various birds in flight and below on land and on the water in the foreground. There are steep rocky banks on the left and right frame, a low waterfall at center and a ruin behind in the middle ground. There are distant wooded hills in the background. Frame engraved on front & shaped rectangular plate: "M. Hondecoeter/1636-1695".
