Copy after a Portrait of Axel von Fersen at Age 28

Copy by C. Eveline Maydell (American, 1890-1962) after a portrait of Count Axel von Fersen at age 28. von Fersen was an 18th century Swedish nobleman and supposed lover of Queen Marie Antoinette of France. The original is a miniature painted in Paris and formerly in the collections of Mme. La Comtesse Louise de Gylden Stolpe (nee Fersen). Given to Nathalie Bailey Morris by Baroness Evelyn V. Maydell at Newport, August, 1926. Signed in pencil in lower portion of picture is 'Copy C. Eveline Maydell' and 'Axel Fersen'.
