Description
A COLORED CURRIER & IVES (1857-1907) LITHOGRAPH BY NATHANIEL CURRIER (1813-1888) AND JAMES MERRIT IVES ENTITLED "THE YACHT VESTA" (American, 20th Century). The yacht "Vesta" was the schooner yacht of Pierre Lorillard IV (1833-1901). The hand-tinted lithograph reads: at lower left "Pub's by Currier & Ives; at lower right "115 Nassau St. NY"; at center "THE YACHT VESTA OF NY 201 tons/owned by Mr. Lorillard/competitor in the Great Ocean Yacht race from NY to England, December 1866/making the run in 14 days 7 1/2 hours meantime".
