Photograph showing 'The Continence of Scipo' by Giovanni Antonio Pellegrini (1675-1741). It is one of a series of four oil on canvas Venetian paintings (Italian, c. 1706) depicting scenes in the life of Scipio Africanus, the Roman General who conquered the North African City of Carthage in 203 B.C. This painting is located in the dining room at The Elms.
