Description
A CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY LOWBOY OR DRESSING TABLE (American, Newport, RI, c. 1765) attributed to John Goddard (1724-1785). The rectangular top has a molded edge above a scalloped case and contains one long drawer above two small drawers. Each of the drawers has a brass handle. The bottom two drawers flank a shell carving of ten convex lobes. The case is supported by four cabriole legs with the front legs terminating in webless, undercut ball and claw feet, and the back legs into pad feet.
