A White Marble Garden Basin

19th century

A WHITE MARBLE GARDEN BASIN OF OVAL SHAPE (Italian, 19th century) decorated with recumbent classical dolphins flanking a concave central scallop shell all carved in high relief. There is a drilled hole at center for drainage. It is inspired by the 16th century public fountain at the Villa Giulia in Rome.
