Description
A FIVE-PIECE SET OF BLUE AND WHITE DELFT MANTEL GARNITURE (Dutch, c.1775) by the De Porceleyne Bijl (The Porcelain Axe) Factory, Delft. The set is comprised of two octagonal shaped beakers (.1-.2) that are decorated with peacocks and foliage in blue and white, and three covered delft octagonal baluster form vases (.3ab- .5ab), these are decorated with peacocks and foliage and surmounted with flame shaped finials. They are marked on the underside with the image on an axe, the maker's mark for the De Porceleyne Bijl Factory.
