Description
A BISCUIT BOX (English, 19th century) with an oval body and hinged lid by Mappin Brothers, London. It has a gadrooned lower body and upper lid, sits on a concave-sided conforming stand with four feet, is topped by an ebony knob and is engraved on the lid with the King family crest of a lion sitting on a crown and the words "Face Et Spera (Do and Hope)." It is stamped on the underside with an image of a sun and the words "Mappin Brother/222 Regent Street/And/London Bridge."
