Description
A PIERCED HOT POTATO BOWL (London, 19th century) by William Comyns & Sons, London. It has a scalloped rim, a shallow bowl on a spreading foot and is decorated with foliate scrolls, birds, lions, dogs, flowers, houses, and a cow. Two cartouches are engraved with the initials "MGK" (for Maud Gwendolen King, 1876-1968). The outside of the upper rim is stamped with the William Comyns & Sons maker’s mark.
