Description
MARBLE INSET-ARMCHAIR (Chinese, 19th century) decorated with mother-of-pearl foliate inlay. The shaped and pierced back panel is carved with foliage and Buddhist symbols framing a central panel of marble painted with two trees in a landscape. The seat is inset with a large panel of marble and the two armrests have smaller panels. The four square legs are connected by stretchers, a scroll design is carved into the toes. This along with a second armchair (PSNC.6076.3) and a small table (PSNC.6076.1) makes up a three-piece set.
