A CARVED HAWTHORN ROOT SCULPTURE OF A DANCING FIGURE (Chinese, 19th century), a peg connects the figure to the gnarled root base. The dancing male figure wears robes, holds a tambourine, and stands on one leg. Also carved on the base is a frog like grotesque animal figure next to a lily pad.
