Description
A PAIR OF WHITE MARBLE URNS (French, 19th century) from the workshops of Jules Allard et ses Fils, Paris, modeled after a pair of vases with the attributes of autumn by Jean-Baptiste Pigalle (French, 1714-1785). Each urn is adorned on two opposite sides with matching rams heads, above this is a grapevine intersected in four places by Bacchic male and female masks, below the rams’ heads is an acanthus leaf motif.
