Marble Bust of the Youthful Louis XIV

MARBLE BUST OF THE YOUTHFUL LOUIS XIV (French, 1891) by Auguste Edme Suchetet (French, 1854-1932) copied after the bust of Louis XIV done by Gian Lorenzo Bernini (Italian, 1598-1680). The figure of Louis XIV faces left, curls cascade around his shoulders, he wears a lace cravat at his neck, and drapery flows around his shoulders. Signed beneath the drapery on the right is "D’APRES BERNIN, SUCHETET 1891." The original bust by Bernini is in the collection of Versailles.
