Description
A CARVED WALNUT OCCASIONAL TABLE (French, 19th century) by the design firm Jules Allard and Sons, done in the 17th century Italian style. The rectangular over-hanging table top has a molded border and carved foliate frieze. The end supports are carved in the form of seated sphinxes, and are joined by a stretcher with a carved egg and dart design and central grotesque mask. The table is further supported by a central ornately carved column with a grotesque mask and stylized foliage.
