Description
A PAINTED AND GILDED GUERIDON (OR OCCASIONAL TABLE) (French, 19th century) from the workshop of Jules Allard and Sons, Paris. The circular top is painted with an en Grisaille (shades of gray) scene of stylized foliage within a border of Vitruvian scrolling. The edge of the table is molded and decorated with gilding. The table stands on three shaped legs carved with scrolling foliage and united by female masks, the legs are joined at mid-height by a foliate triangular stretcher, and end in dolphin head feet. The frame of the table is gilded in old gold and silver.
