Description
A pair of carved giltwood open-arm settees (French, late 19th century) from the workshop of Jules Allard and Sons. The matching settees have low rectangular backrests and curved and molded open arms surmounted by female masks. The armrests are carved with a money pattern and scrolling foliate supports. The rectangular seats are raised on end supports with scrolled legs carved with foliage and terminating in dolphin head feet. The settees are upholstered in rose pink floral damask with a tasseled fringe along the front rail. Each has two loose cushions covered in the same fabric as the upholstery. The frames of the settees are finished in old gold and silver.
