Description
A CARVED & DECORATED LIBRARY OR CENTER TABLE (French, 19th century) by the design firm Jules Allard and Sons. The rectangular top is veneered with quartered kingwood, inlaid at the center with rosewood in a foliate design, and inlaid along the sides with a border of entwined ribbon and foliage. The edge of the table is molded with a gilded edge and carved with an egg and dart frieze with intersecting oak leaves. The table stands on a trestle base supported by legs carved with pendant classical foliage. The feet of the trestle base end in scrolling foliate toes. The table is finished in old gold and silver.
