Description
A colored mezzotint entitled "Countess Spencer" (American, c. 1880) by Samuel Arlent-Edwards (American, 1862-1938) after a painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds (English, 1723-1792). The sitter, Lavinia Spencer, Countess Spencer (English, 1762-1831), is depicted at half length facing right. She has dark curls and wears a large straw hat with a pink/red ribbon that matches her dress, which has a fichu over the bodice and a dark ribbon belt at the waist. A tree and country landscape is depicted in the background. That print is housed in a carved wooden frame.
