Description
A LOUIS XV WHITE PAINTED BERGERE (French, mid 18th century) with a carved beech wood frame. The cushion seat, back, and armrests are upholstered in striped orange velvet. The arched padded back is topped by a curved crest rail carved with twin flower heads and trailing vines at center. The scroll armrests lead to a serpentine seat rail where the carved double flower head and leaf motif is repeated. The chair is supported by four cabriole legs, the front two of which have flowers carved on the knees, and end in scroll feet.
