Description
A PAIR OF CARVED OAK GOTHIC STYLE HIGH BACK SETTEES AND FOUR SIDE CHAIRS (French, 19th century) from the workshop of Jules Allard and Sons with upholstery originally by Gilbert Cuel. The settees and side chairs have matching crest rails of raised trefoils and open backs with pierced arch designs. Each settee has three loose pillows and both the settees and chairs have a seat cushion upholstered in a Prelle renaissance style green silk cut velvet. The seat cushion is edged with a gold braid trim with tassels hanging from the front two corners. The eight block legs of the settee are connected by H-stretchers and double cross-stretchers on the ends. The four block legs of the chairs are also connected by H-stretchers with double cross stretchers on the ends.
