Description
A Steel, Ormolu, and Marble Console Table (French, c. 1766) designed by Victor Louis (French, 1731-1807) after Jean-Louis Prieur the Elder (French, 1732-1795). The serpentine breche d’Alep marble top is raised on a steel and bronze ormolu base decorated with flower heads and garlands. Based after a design by Louis for a console table commissioned for the Royal Palace of Warsaw, once the series was executed additional models were made for the Paris trade. The console table is raised on a modern platform base.
