Description
A LOUIS XIV STYLE GRAY PAINTED VANITY TABLE (French, late 19th century) from the workshop of Jules Allard and Sons. Part of the original bedroom set for Alva Vanderbilt’s bedroom at Marble House. A large cartouche shaped mirror with an elaborate carved frame sits on top of the colored marble top. Two brass candelabra, fitted for two candles each, emanate from the sides of the mirror. The vanity has four shallow drawers on each side, with a long drawer and cupboard at center. The drawers are fitted with brass ring pulls. The vanity stands on eight legs with curled toes.
