Description
A LOUIS XIV STYLE GRAY PAINTED WRITING TABLE (French, late 19th century) from the workshop of Jules Allard and Sons. Part of the original bedroom set for Alva Vanderbilt’s bedroom at Marble House. Of oblong shape, the table has a colored marble top with rounded ends which sits atop an open work skirt of curling foliage. The table stands on four tapered fluted legs with flower head capitals. The legs are connected by an x-shaped stretcher with a raised urn and trailing floral garlands at center.
