A SILVER PICTURE FRAME (German, 19th century) containing a photograph that is believed to be of Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt (American, 1901-1978), the wife of Harold S. Vanderbilt. The ornate molded German silver frame is supported by an easel back. The sitter is shown at bust length, her hair is carefully coiffed atop her head, and the low neckline of her gown shows off her neck and shoulders. The photograph is cut in an oval to fit the frame.
