Description
A CAST BRONZE SCULPTURE OF A THOROUGHBRED (French, early 20th century) by the noted equestrian sculptor Gaston D’Illiers (French, 1876-1932). The patinated bronze sculpture depicts a trotting thoroughbred in graceful motion. The sculpture is attached to a colored marble base. The sculpture is signed on the bronze base "G. D’Illiers / Bronze." Original to William K. Vanderbilt’s racing stable in Poissy, France.
