Description
A CHINESE EXPORT CUP AND SAUCER (Chinese, 19th century) of glazed porcelain. Both pieces are decorated around the rim with a pointed gilt border outlined in red, along with floral sprays, and a crowned crest accompanied by birds and cherubs holding trumpets. Contained in the crest are what appear to be the entwined initials "AV" for Alva Vanderbilt (1853-1933) and "WV" for William K. Vanderbilt (1849-1920).
