Description
A FRENCH STYLE WALNUT AND PARQUETRY DORE TRIMMED DESK CABINET (French, late 19th century) attributed to the workshop of Jules Allard and Sons or possibly by Paul Sormani, Paris. The bombe shaped cabinet has a low open work gallery surrounding three sides of the top, it is fitted with three drawers and has an open lower self. The whole is raised on four curved foliate bronze feet. The drawers are covered with tooled gilt leather and have circular flower head pulls. This piece is original to Mr. Vanderbilt’s bedroom at Marble House.
