Description
AN ORMOLU-MOUNTED WALNUT AND PURPLEHEART OCCASIONAL TABLE (French, dated 1886) by the Parisian cabinet-maker Henry Dasson (1825-1896). The rectangular top is inset with red marble and surrounded by an ormolu border. The apron is centered on two sides with rectangular blue and white ‘Wedgewood style’ French porcelain plaques decorated with classical figures. The whole is raised on four tapered fluted legs terminating in ormolu spiral twist feet. The legs are joined at the bottom by a platform stretcher with a raised pierced ormolu gallery, creating a lower shelf. The apron is signed "Henry Dasson, 1886" in script.
