Description
A Chinese export rose mandarin bowl (Chinese, c. 1780), with large painted panels on the front and back outlined in scrollwork depicting figures by a lake view and smaller side medallions depicting a mother and child by a tree and a man and woman. Above these smaller medallions is a coral trellis border with floral reserves. The interior rim is painted with a pink trellis diaper border containing iron-red and black floral reserves. At center in the interior is a floral spring. The tall foot rim has traces of old gilding.
