Description
A pewter basin (American, c. 1800) made by Samuel (active 1793-1800) and Thomas Melville (1764-1796) of Newport, RI. The well of the basin is partially impressed with two of their square hallmarks, the first hallmark contains the letters "S" and "T", the second contains the letter "M."
