An engraved map tilted "The State of Rhode Island from the Latest Survey 1796" (American, 1796) by Benjamin Tanner (American, 1775-1848), engraved for the American Edition of William Winterbotham’s "America" printed by John Reid. The map depicts the state of Rhode Island in an orange and light blue border, divided into towns and counties. The title is printed in an oval on the top right corner, beneath the oval is printed "B. Tanner: del. & sculpt." A list of references is printed on the bottom right corner. The whole is contained within a black and yellow border. The map is housed in a black painted wood frame with a carved gilt interior border.
