Description
A Savona faience teapot (Italian, c. 1770) of globular shape, with a removable cover, entwined handle, and curved spout. The body of the teapot is painted on one side with pavilions in a landscape setting in tones of yellow and brown on manganese. The reverse depicts a tall figure flanked by trees and foliage. The handle is painted with brown slashes to resemble rope. The cover has a gilt knob finial, black floral sprays, and an iron red and gold dot border. The underside is inscribed with an illegible makers mark.
