Description
A pencil sketch of a Brazilian gentleman (American, dated 1847) drawn by a member of the Hunter family during their diplomatic stay in Rio de Janeiro. The sketch depicts a gentleman at full length wearing a top hat with a cocarde and large overcoat with a walking stick held under his arm taking a pinch of snuff. Written along the top right corner of the paper is "Rio Janeiro / 1847." The sketch is housed in a black painted wood frame with gold interior trim.
