Description
A Staffordshire reticulated basket and stand (English, c. 1805) of oval shape. The basket (.a) has a scalloped fluted rim with double twig handles, the sides are molded geometric pierced basketwork. The stand (.b) has a scalloped edged pierced basketwork rim. The inner rim of both pieces is painted with iron-red and black ribbon borders above bands of beading and husks in a similar palette, the edges are outlined in black. The stand is marked "466" on the reverse.
